Best Music Vids - Roger Sanchez.

I don’t really know why, but I absolutely love this video. This genre isn’t my speciality when it comes to music and I don’t have more than a couple of Dance CDs in my collection. Saying this, ‘Another Chance’ is such a damn catchy song that I find it hard to resist…

Dance videos can actually be very clever and I openly admit that I have sat watching them on dedicated channels in the past. Because the content of a dance track is often left very open, it is a great place for a director to unleash his/her imagination.

The idea of carrying your heart around for everyone to see is pretty original; and the way that it responds to different situations by shrinking or growing is really clever. Okay, so the love story thing may be a bit cheesy and the ‘never-ending loop’ has been done a thousand times before; but this can all be overlooked. The main thing is that it is a brilliant accompaniment to the song and it’s really good fun to watch.

The girl in the video (Julia Jentsch) is achingly cute and watching her drag her heart around is very poignant; she encounters so many cold people. But we want her to keep going through the same endless routine because we all enjoy a good love story (if we’re honest).

‘Another Chance’ may be a little ‘lyrically challenged’, but the few words it does have are cunningly placed in the backgrounds. They appear on buses, posters and sandwich boards. Soppy it all may be, but it has still has plenty more besides.

This video has been mimicked and parodied countless times; even the BBC have ripped it off recently. And, if that is the case, then it must have a bit of something going for it!

Guys, you all have to take a look at the cool portfolio for this company who does Packaging Solutions. I found them doing a bit research for my illustrating program! If you have any interest in cd and dvd design for bands you should all really check them out!
